To say we are overwhelmed with gratitude after seeing the response from the community, would be an understatement. Words cannot express how thankful we are!

We have spoken with UHN and they have given us a small update regarding our Public Appeal. At this time, they have received a tremendous amount of applications to be a living liver donor for Myles and are currently at capacity. We have confirmation that someone is currently in assessment and we will find out more should that person be a match for Myles. If the need for more applicants opens up again, they will let us know right away and you will be updated.

If you have submitted an application for living donation and have not heard back from UHN, rest assured this is because the list of applications is long.

We will continue to post updates more on our day to day here at SickKids and will provide a more extensive update should we get confirmation of a match.

Myles needs a living liver donor with blood type A or O to donate to him in Toronto.
Welcome!
Thank you for supporting

Mighty Myles

In Mid-October of 2023, Myles Beaulieu was diagnosed with a Rare & Chronic Liver Disease called Biliary Atresia.

Now at one year old he has been admitted long term to The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, awaiting a Liver Transplant.

Myles needs a living liver donor with blood type A or O to donate to him in Toronto.

A healthy person can donate a piece of the liver to save Myles’ life. The liver is a remarkable organ that will grow back to its original size in just 6-10 weeks. UHN has the largest liver transplant program in Canada. Since 2000, they have preformed over 800 living liver donor surgeries and currently hold a survival rate of 100%.

Living liver donors do not need to be the same gender, blood relatives or from the same culture as Myles.

Living donors for Myles do need to be:

  • A or O blood type (both + and - welcomed)

  • Between the age of 16-50

  • Overall in good health

  • No major health concerns in the past

Roughly, 4 out of 5 living donor candidates are not approved and are unable to become living organ donors…

Just by sharing our story, you are making a difference. You may know the person who can help change a little boys life.
